Bahasa Indonesia Course for Foreigners
Bahasa Indonesia course is intended for foreigners who concern to learn Indonesian language. The English speaking participants come from professionals or students of any disciplines around the world. The objective is to be able to communicate in Indonesian fluently in various social contexts, to have the opportunity in understanding Indonesian cultures, also to achieve the good standard of language competency in listening, speaking, reading and writing Indonesian. The program consists of three levels, which are Basic, Intermediate, and Advance.

The program consists of three levels, which are Basic, Intermediate, and Advance.
1. Basic
In this level participants will learn Bahasa Indonesia for survival and much more. It provides the survival needed and the structure of Bahasa Indonesia. The structure part lays the basic foundation of grammar. The structure presented in each lesson material progress through easy, common forms and spoken conversational tone to a more difficult, reading and writing tone.
The emphasis of this level is on conversation. Participants can speak Indonesian using simple sentences and understand some of the culture in everyday Indonesian social life. Each lesson material starts with a dialog or a reading passage, reflecting daily exchanges, then highlights the expressions used for the particular setting. The language is semi-formal, and where formal is used it is either stated or implied in the setting.
2. Intermediate
The Intermediate level is purposed for foreigners who desire to learn more about Indonesian language used in more formal settings, such as governmental system, educational system, health, public service, etc., also for learners who have mastered the elementary level of the Indonesian language.
The emphasis of this level is on grammar in the reading texts. Participants will have a sound knowledge of Indonesia through comprehension of the written language. The language used in the lesson materials are for formal settings. For less formal setting, the topic is presented in the form of a dialog.
3. Advance
Finally, we offer the Advance level which is a Bahasa Indonesia for A Special Purpose to select lesson material and have more active discussion to learn. Participants who have mastered the basic and intermediate levels of the Indonesian language might suggest the alternative materials of Bahasa Indonesia based on their needs. For instances, the participant who works as a sport consultant perhaps requires more vocabularies and the usages in sport with health settings, as well as a journalist who possibly will be interested to learn about the written texts of Bahasa Indonesia applied in mass media.
Furthermore, presentation, speech, discussion/debate, preparing official documents and reports, business correspondence, understanding literary works, writing articles and a short story in Bahasa Indonesia could be provided in this level.
Teaching Methods
We believe in the Communicative Language Teaching and, therefore, class activities are mainly based on the communicative approach. This approach enables learners to communicate, rather than to analyze, the target language.
The approach is based on three principles which are: a. Communication Principle denotes activities that involves in real communication promote learning, b. Task Principle indicates activities in which language is used for carrying out meaningful tasks promote learning and c. Meaningfulness Principle signifies Learning that is meaningful to the participant supports the learning process. Under these principles, class activities are designed to be learner-centered in which any facilitation methods applied are utilized to gain the optimum learning results. In particular situation, English is used as the last resort. A relaxed atmosphere is deliberately created to eliminate the concept of “teacher-student relationships”. We foster the “relationship of friends” concept.

The lesson materials will be presented in handouts and electronic files from many resources such as internet, printed, recorded materials (such as film, news, advertising or music on CD/cassette) and books:
Participants
To reach the focus and intensive situations in the learning activities, the program is conducted privately which is normally one to one course. However, it is possible to accept four participants in one class for maximum capacity. Adults, teenagers or children are welcomed to join the program. The dissimilar group of ages will be put into difference classes.
